Hello! I'm a software developer based in Bristol, UK.
I enjoy travelling, hiking, photography, fine real ale and creating the occasional website - some of which are illustrated below.
The sites below have not been updated for a while, except the images one, which gets updates every year or so.
Please note these websites are not really designed to be viewed on a mobile phone. A tablet is okay, a large desktop monitor and mouse are best. A fast connection is required and javascript and cookies must be enabled in your browser (as per most sites).

For each Artist / Band we have 2 web pages : Album Covers and Album Details (automatically generated from the internet by my magic program "get-artist").

This website figures out the best ever films by Genre, Actor, Director and Year. It also decides the best films currently showing in the UK by town / city (for up to 600 towns) and the best Actors and Directors for every decade since 1915, and of all time. Each category offers List, Poster and Detail views.

Remote Control Bristol Harbour Camera
This project involved mounting a full frame digital SLR on my bathroom window sill, 2 storeys up, with a view along Bristol Harbour to the M-shed Museum and Prince Street Bridge. The camera could be triggered remotely via email, manually from a local computer or automatically driven by a timetable linked to sunrise times. Beautiful Interactive Graphs Website
This was amazing. Far better than sliced bread. But Java support has been dropped by all browsers now so all you can do is
gaze forlornly at the static images below.
This was a project to try the Java language and to animate some of the beautiful graphs in a
fabulous book by Jean-Paul Delahaye, Professeur, Université des Sciences et Technologies de Lille :
"Geometric and Artistic Graphics - Design Generation with Microcomputers", MacMillan 1986.
For this I converted the original Basic programs to Java and added colour, detail, rotation, animation and an interactive website.
Image Viewer
I've written this to overcome some of the limitations of common image viewers.
It automatically displays landscape and portrait photos separately so that the full screen area is used,
images can be compared and split into keepers and rejects.
To do one day perhaps : tidy up the code and release on github.
